I’ll tell you of those nighttime rides through the back alleys of Kyoto.
I sailed past old tiny shops that were piled high with unusual things, books or birdcages, kettles and kites, and streets misted with the smell of burning wood and incense from the graveyards. I went over and over to revisit my favorite trees, gnarled cherry and chestnut twisting through the front gates of old homes.
